Position Title: Director, Policy & Regulatory Affairs
Reports To: President & CEO
Location: Hybrid (3-4 days a week in the office downtown at King & Yonge)
Status: Full-Time
The Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO) is the largest association in Ontario representing those who own, manage, build and finance residential rental properties and their industry partners. FRPO works on behalf of members to promote a balanced and healthy housing market with a vital rental-housing industry.
Job Summary:
The company is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Policy & Regulatory Affairs to join the team. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance, shaping policy initiatives, and advocating on behalf of the organization's interests.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor and respond to emerging government legislation, regulations and by-laws affecting the rental-housing sector on a timely basis
Develop and formulate position papers, briefs, and responses to government consultations
Develop policy/program proposals that support and advance FRPO's positions
Identify, analyze and track legislative and regulatory issues that impact the rental housing sector
Work with consultants engaged to support FRPO's government relations objectives
Meet with Members of Provincial Parliament, staff and government officials to advance key advocacy priorities
Appear before Legislative Committees to provide input regarding proposed legislation and regulations impacting rental housing providers
Provide support to municipal rental housing associations when required.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in the industry.
A degree in political science and/or an economic related discipline with a focus on planning, development and government relations or equivalent
An understanding of provincial/regional/municipal governance structures
Policy knowledge of issues affecting the rental-housing sector
Exceptional verbal communication and writing skills
A demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Strong inter-personal skills when working with multi-disciplinary teams and a membership base
Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000/annum (based on experience)
