Airswift is seeking an Inventory Analyst to work with one of our O&G clients in Calgary, AB on a 2-year contract position.

Reporting to the CP Planning and Procurement Manager, this key role is responsible for managing inventory and demand planning processes to support a world-class supply chain that meets business demands. The Inventory Analyst will be experienced in setting up, maintaining, and improving end-to-end inventory management strategies and processes for large-scale process industry operations, industrial projects, shutdowns, and turnarounds, including planning for material storage and preservation.

This role includes the following key responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, improve, and optimize the SAP MM (Materials Management) plan.
  • Perform both strategic and transactional inventory management-optimizing inventory across operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain inventory work processes with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Develop, deploy, and monitor inventory KPIs and performance against targets.
  • Provide early planning and input into the onboarding approach for asset purchases; share best practices across warehouses, countries, and businesses.
  • Identify continuous improvement initiatives in Material Management at the site or local level.
  • Serve as an interface between Material Management and Plant Maintenance to ensure completeness and accuracy of Bills of Materials (BoMs).
  • Provide material visibility and assurance during planning, work order release, and execution phases.
  • Support the design and configuration of SAP's Materials Management Module to ensure optimum flexibility and performance aligned with chosen supply chains.
  • Deliver operational spare parts and BoM build support.
  • Collaboratively review spare parts and determine optimum sparing levels, factoring in maintenance advisor input.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of the plant's material master data.
  • In collaboration with Discipline Engineers, develop and implement an obsolescence plan.
  • Prepare and seek sign-off for the annual inventory review plan.
  • Identify surplus inventory and take proactive measures to prevent excess stock buildup.
  • Drive implementation and maintenance of inventory work process improvements.
  • Develop and enforce inventory and disposal policies.
  • Create performance dashboards for inventory management.
  • Create and amend Material Master records following internal coding systems.
  • Provide early input into asset onboarding from the Material Management perspective.
  • Review proposed spare parts and BoMs to ensure accurate system transfers and alignment with current inventory philosophy.
  • Conduct mass data uploads into SAP as needed.
  • Collaborate with CP Leads, Contract Engineers, and Analysts to ensure MM excellence is embedded in contracts.
  • Advise CP Leads and Contract Holders on areas of MM value leakage and potential improvements.

Dimensions:

  • Responsible for approximately 25,000 SKUs and over 70,000 Material Masters, covering spares and equipment in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, rotating, piping material consumables, and other categories.
  • Prior experience in maintenance or turnaround planning, execution, or scheduling is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SAP MM and PM modules.
  • Experience in setting up material supply processes for large-scale operating plants and managing project-to-asset transitions.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and team-building skills, particularly in multicultural environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple internal and external interfaces and stakeholders.
  • This is a safety-sensitive role and will require passing a Drug and Alcohol test and a fitness-for-duty examination.

Skills & Requirements:

We are seeking a seasoned professional with at least 6 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, combining technical and materials management knowledge.

Required experience and capabilities include:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of equipment and parts management to support planned maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of Work Order processes and their relation to inventory management.
  • Execution of demand and inventory management activities such as planning and replenishment, forecasting, expediting, assurance, compliance, reporting, and lead-time analysis.
  • Conducting periodic risk analysis with engineering, maintenance, and procurement teams to balance plant reliability with cost.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to reduce working capital.
  • Applying inventory work processes and systems effectively.
  • Contributing to annual inventory planning.
  • Conducting analysis of slow-moving and obsolete inventory; leading disposal efforts.
  • Monitoring and reporting on inventory KPIs.
  • Optimizing stock levels and managing surplus.
  • Understanding and applying best practices for MMR and BoMs.
  • Collaborating with the business to define stocking strategies.
  • Coaching and influencing stakeholders to adopt cost-optimization initiatives.
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders (Warehouse Leads, Maintenance, CP).
  • Using SAP IM and MM modules to manage warehouse operations.
  • Researching and applying external benchmarks and best practices for critical materials.
  • Driving performance and competency improvement in materials management.
