For you, being a great communicator is more than just being an excellent writer (which you are) or knowing your way around both online and offline communications. It's about truly connecting with your audience-putting yourself in their shoes, understanding their journey, and building trust. Most of all, you're a master storyteller who uses insight, creativity and compassion to create copy that makes someone say: "They get me." And you really do. You also have the ability to take large complex - and sometimes sensitive - topics and distill them down to the core messages and updates, while pushing your content through communication channels which will be most impactful to your audience.

WHAT MOVES YOU

  • You're a master multi-tasker who can juggle projects and priorities with ease.
  • You bring creative flair to all your projects, nailing the brief every time.
  • You write with clarity, elegance, simplicity and evocativeness-and always know the right tone for the right piece.
  • You have an innate understanding of how to pull key threads from a complex conversation and distill them into easily digestible communications.
  • You stay on top of industry trends, developments and best practices in communications.
  • You're an excellent editor with an eagle eye for typos. You probably spell-checked this posting!
  • You work just as well on your own as you do in a team.
  • You're not only comfortable with change, you embrace it. And you like to help others through it too.
  • You have strong executive presence and not afraid to ask for the information you need to write the best communications possible.
  • You have a knack for understanding business strategy and connecting it to your frontline's purpose.
  • You're a proud word nerd who knows the difference between license and licence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Report to the Vice President, Corporate Purpose.
  • Work in partnership with our internal communications team and our executive team to get information you need to keep the organization up to date with our strategy.
  • Research, write and edit stories for the executive team.
  • Use your knowledge of the Canadian Press Style Guide to create and edit content that's written in AMA's unique brand voice.
  • Build an executive editorial calendar, ensuring news is effectively communicated in a timely way.
  • Measure and monitor the effectiveness of executive communications.
  • Work within tight deadlines to deliver compelling, story-driven executive content to and stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • You have a Bachelor's degree or post-secondary diploma in a related field such as journalism, English or professional writing.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of writing or content development experience.
  • You have executive-level communications experience.
  • You have a strong background in writing and editing a range of content, including long form/magazine, video scripts, writing for the web, image editing and content management.
  • You have proven expertise in writing and editing brand content.
  • Podcast experience an asset.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

  • Competitive salary.
  • Flexible benefits.
  • Outstanding employer-paid Retirement Savings Program.
  • Great AMA discounts.
  • Unlimited learning opportunities.
  • Paid vacation and other paid time off including a Volunteer Day and Me-Day.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
