Natural Gas Marketing and Supply Analyst
Gas Alberta Energy provides advisory and supply services to electricity and natural gas consumers in Alberta.
The Position:
Gas Alberta Energy is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Natural Gas Market and Supply Analyst to join our Marketing Services team, based in Calgary. This role is essential in providing key insight into supply-demand fundamentals in the Alberta natural gas market. This role works closely with the Manager, Trading, and the Scheduler, to provide competitive consumer pricing and maximize trading opportunities in the Alberta natural gas market. This role will require the incumbent to work a minimum of one (1) weekend per month, as well as Statutory holidays from time to time (Both Canadian and U.S.). The Company currently operates under a "hybrid" work model.
Key Areas of Accountability and Responsibility:
Market Analysis
Develop, implement and maintain supply demand models for natural gas in North America.
Track and analyze market drivers, including production trends, storage levels, regulatory developments, LNG flows, pipeline dynamics.
Support scenario analysis, pricing forecasts, and long-term market outlooks.
Gather market intelligence in the upstream natural gas and electricity sectors to improve Gas Alberta Energy's position in the Alberta energy market.
Work with the Manager, Trading to prepare and present market updates for the commercial services team.
Supply
Manage and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective supply customers of Gas Alberta Energy.
Market Gas Alberta Energy's Producer Services to the oil and gas industry to expand daily index supply and tolerance thresholds.
Oversee strategic partnerships to drive growth, ensure profitability, and support long-term value creation.
Maintain Gas Alberta Energy's electricity and natural gas pricing models to provide indicative pricing for end-use customers.
Collect and assess upstream natural gas and electricity market intelligence to support strategic positioning within the Alberta Energy market.
Risk Management
Implement and manage Gas Alberta Energy's risk management system.
Establish clear hedging objectives, procedures and internal controls to manage risk for Gas Alberta Energy's customer portfolio.
Generation and validation of trading, operations and management reporting, such as daily trading activity and hedge positions to support the accounting team.
Develop, maintain, and report on a "Mark-to-Market" valuation for natural gas positions.
Trading & Scheduling
Possess a working knowledge of Trading and Scheduling functions in the Alberta natural gas market.
Collaborate closely with the Manager, Trading and Scheduler, by contributing to daily trading and scheduling activities as needed.
Weekend and holiday rotation required to ensure continuous operational support.

Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, presentations, and procedure documents.

Must be willing to work on weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
Professional Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, or a related field an asset.
2+ years of experience in natural gas, preferably with focus on energy market analysis.
Experience working with ETRM system with knowledge of Hitachi TRMTracker an asset
