Senior Product Developer
About the Company - baking industry, leader in the creative design and development of sweet goods.
About the Role - Own the product development process from concept, formulation, sourcing ingredients, bench-top prototyping, pilot plant trials and full-scale commercialization
- Responsibilities -
- Formulate new products with consideration to equipment capability, nutritional profile, regulatory compliance, cost, and sensory targets
- Coordinate the commercialization of bench top product, collaborate with QA, Plant Managers, Production and other teams to ensure seamless integration and product quality.
- Coordinate samples and conducting testing to validate product design and functionality as requested. Manage sample process, product development timelines, first production trials and existing product quality.
- Monitor the performance of both post-launch and existing product performance, gather feedback, implement improvements based on findings, and maintain accurate records of the development process.
- Manage and maintain formulation and information database to provide accurate and timely information to required departments.
- Stay up to date with Canadian and US nutrition and labelling laws
- Ability to decorate or assist in decorating different baked good products.
- Other related duties as assigned
- Qualifications
- Must have previous bakery experience (cakes, cookies, breads, rolls etc.), or someone with wet line experience (jam's, jellies, custards, mousses).
- Innovation to grow current portfolios and perseverance when facing difficult challenges
- A leader while also being a team player
- Must have bench top experience as well as commercialization experience.
- Detail orientated, organized, well spoken, communicative, adaptable and takes initiative.
- Candidate needs to speak fluent English, needs to be easy going, open to learning, and can adapt well to change & fast paced environment
- Must have access to their own vehicle- some travel to other facilities
- Post-secondary in food science, culinary or a related field
- Experience in an R&D/Product development role in the baked goods industry
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Detail orientated with a creative mindset.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experienced at all stages of food product development.
- Strong knowledge of baking ingredient functionality.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and food safety standards
Pay range and compensation package - $80,000 to $90,000
