MAGCOR Demolition is hiring a driven and adaptable Project Estimator & Coordinator to join our growing operations team. This hybrid role blends office-based estimating with field-based project support, ideal for someone who understands construction logistics and thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
You'll play a critical role in helping us win work, plan projects, and execute with precision. We're looking for a sharp thinker with a solid estimating background and the ability to coordinate technical and on-site tasks when needed.
About MAGCOR
We're a dynamic demolition and excavation company based in Toronto, specializing in structural and interior demolition, excavation, underpinning, and hazardous materials abatement. We work on everything from residential projects to commercial and industrial contracts. Our clients trust us with high-risk, high-impact work because we bring discipline, experience, and transparency to every job.
We believe in building a solid internal team - people who take ownership, communicate clearly, and thrive when given responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
This is a dual-role position, with time split between the office and the field. While your core function will be estimating, you'll also support pre-construction and early-phase coordination as required.
Estimating (Primary Focus):
- Review tender documents, architectural and structural drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive and accurate proposals
- Prepare and submit clear, well-organized bid packages
- Assist in the development of project budgets and cost control strategies
- Maintain organized records of all bids submitted, awarded, and pending
Project Coordination (As Needed):
- Attend site visits and pre-bid walk-throughs to gather information critical to the estimating process
- Support pre-construction planning by coordinating timelines, tools, and team setup
- Assist with scope clarifications, RFI management, and communicating with field staff
- Monitor material procurement and submittals to ensure smooth hand-off to field teams
- Provide ongoing communication between estimators, PMs, and field supervisors
Who We're Looking For
We want someone who is self-sufficient, organized, and accountable. You're confident reading drawings, building estimates, and aren't afraid to get your boots dirty on site visits.
- 2+ years of construction estimating experience is required
- Recent experience in an estimating role (ideally your most recent position)
- Experience with demolition, excavation, underpinning, and abatement projects is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario construction landscape, including relevant pricing and scopes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software is a bonus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Ontario driver's license (field assessments are part of the job)
- High attention to detail, ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Comfortable working in a collaborative environment with evolving needs
Work Environment
This role is based at our Etobicoke office five days per week. You'll spend the majority of your time in the office preparing estimates, with field work (site walks, pre-bid visits, coordination checks) as needed.
While the standard workday follows regular business hours, this role may require early starts, longer days, or adjusted hours depending on active deadlines or project needs. Flexibility is key.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $65,000 to $85,000/year, depending on experience and capabilities
- Bonus Incentive Program: Available after 12 months of successful employment
- Clear pathway for professional development and future leadership opportunities
- Collaborative work culture that values trust, integrity, and follow-through
- Exposure to high-profile projects across the Greater Toronto Area
- Supportive, hands-on leadership team that's invested in your success
