Client Profile

Our client, a reputable Toronto law firm is currently looking for a Financial Analyst. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare monthly reconciliations for the firm's Trust and General bank accounts and lead month-end journal entries for multiple entities;
  2. Conduct reconciliations of accounts, including intercompany, fixed assets, and prepaid schedules;
  3. Maintain accurate timekeeper setups and billing rates in e-billing platforms and accounting software;
  4. Assist with analyses and working papers for annual audits and ensure compliance with trust account regulations;
  5. Support annual budget preparation, conduct profitability analyses, cash flow trend analyses, and provide variance analysis on month-end reports;
  6. Maintain key financial reports, such as collections, partner capital schedules, and expense analyses;
  7. Conduct monthly departmental profitability analyses and provide actionable insights.
  8. Work with HR to manage RRSP uploads and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, and;
  9. Assist with all other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or CFO.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CPA, CFA, or similar designation preferred.
  2. 3-5 years of financial analysis experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  3. Advanced Excel proficiency (vlookups, IF analysis), familiarity with accounting software (Elite, Aderant, or Clio preferred), and a strong understanding of trust accounting and legal billing practices.
  4. Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  5. High degree of flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and demands of business partners.
