PHOTONICS ENGINEER WORLD STAR TECH Greater Toronto Area, Canada (On-site)

World Star Technologies, Inc is a leading designer/manufacturer or laser modules/systems.

We are looking for an Optical Engineer to join our team.

The individual must be a high energy, self starter with excellent technical and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in teams is a must. If you are a creative individual with a strong interest in design and and hands on work, we look forward to hearing from you.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for designing, building and testing custom laser systems/modules
• Perform optical alignment of lasers
• Design custom tooling and fixture solutions
• Perform component measurement and characterization
• Prepare associated documentation (incoming inspection reports, test plans, testing results, etc)
• Source components, fixtures and test equipment
• Produce rapid-prototypes of electro-optical assemblies
• Assist in development of volume production processes/requirements

Job Requirements:

• Minimum: B.S. in Engineering or Physics; Masters/Ph.D preferred
• Prior experience handling and characterizing photonic assemblies (lasers, detectors, etc)
• Prior experience building opto-electronics or similar micro-electronic assemblies
• Knowledge of photonics passive and active component design
• Ability to work with and and align small, sensitive components
• Knowledge of photonics industry and ecosystem
• Experience using Zemax and Autocad
• Excellent oral/written communication skills in English
• Must be a Canadian citizen/permanent resident
