About the Opportunity

TKDN has an exciting opportunity for full-time Director of Lands and Resources roles, based in Prince George, BC.

In this role, you will primarily manage and evaluate land-use plans and development, ensuring the conservation, protection, and sustainable use of Tsay Keh Dene traditional territory.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will lead treaty operations, negotiate terms for land use, and advocate Tsay Keh Dene views on various governmental and working groups.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Collaborating closely with the public and fostering strategic relationships with co-management groups, other First Nation bands and organizations, and Provincial/Territorial and National governments
Implementing the Reserve Land and Environment Management Plan
Developing policies, procedures, and strategic goals for land management
Monitoring compliance with land and resource regulations
Preparing and managing project and departmental budgets
Overseeing staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations
Advocating for Tsay Keh Dene views in community consultations and working groups
Managing environmental and land management projects and contracts

More About You

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Natural or Renewable Resource Management, Land Management, or Environmental Studies, with 5+ years of experience in land or resource management. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

The following are also required:

Ability to undergo a criminal record check
Possess a valid Driver's License & acceptable driver's abstract
Willingness and ability to work in the field and travel in-community per organization needs ( once a month)

The following skills and experience will be strong assets:

Demonstrated knowledge in land resource planning and management principles
Proven ability to handle responsibilities, negotiate contracts, and meet crucial deadlines
Project management expertise with a focus on delivering results
Proficiency in budget management, including preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of financial data
Strong capability to research, develop, and refine strategic goals and organizational policies
Comprehensive understanding of policy development, with experience in crafting and presenting technical and scientific documents
Established skill in implementing policies and ensuring team compliance
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Experience working with Indigenous communities
Comprehensive knowledge or interest in the history of Tsay Keh Dene Nation
