Title: Health, Safety & Environment Manager

Reports to: Senior Health & Food Safety Manager

Based at: Mucci Pac Ltd., Kingsville, ON

Type of Employment: Full-Time, permanent, 5-days a week; and some additional hours which may include Saturdays, depending on workload and priorities.

Principal Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements to improve overall awareness and safety culture within the organization.
Conduct regular inspections, assessments, and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective and preventive actions in a timely manner.
Lead continuous improvement efforts through monitoring of performance and trend analysis to ensure compliance with legislation, company HSE policies and industry best practices.
Oversee environmental initiatives, such as waste management and sustainability efforts, to minimize the organization's overall environmental impact.
Effectively communicate and provide guidance and support to management and employees on health and safety issues, including training, hazard communication, and emergency response procedures.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root cause and recommend preventive and corrective measures.
Oversee safety requirements for on-site contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
Oversee JHSC to ensure management of internal safety programs and receive worker's concerns and recommendations for improvement.
Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies and represent the company during HSE inspections and audits.
Stay informed about emerging health and safety trends, regulations, and best practices and incorporate relevant updates into existing programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

University degree or post-secondary education in HSE or a closely related field.
3-5 years of relevant work experience in a similar environment with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Experience in writing reports, policies, and procedures.
Good knowledge of data analysis and risk management.
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications.
Able to work in a team environment with a professional and optimistic attitude.
Able to organize, motivate and coach employees on desired outcomes.
Creative, adaptable, and able to accurately handle out of the ordinary issues with a sense of urgency.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
Critical thinker, ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
Must be First Aid/CPR certified.
Industrial hygiene knowledge is preferred.
Forklift experience is preferred.
Valid driver's license with own transportation is required.
Ability to speak Spanish is an asset.

Physical Abilities:

Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lb.
Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time.
Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 C / 55 F.
