Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Cambridge Memorial Hospital is currently looking for a Manager of our Inpatient Surgery, Allied Health & Social Work, departments . This position plays an instrumental role in the overall strategic and operational management of these program areas to ensure effective delivery of outcomes that are aligned with organizational priorities. Under the general direction of the Director, Surgical Services and in collaboration with designated physicians, the Manager provides leadership for the multidisciplinary health care team in providing an exceptional experience for all. The manager ensures that adequate human and material resources are available to support performance goals and the delivery of safe, quality patient care. This position seeks to promote and maintain a positive, professional, and safe team oriented environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the provision of patient care services within clinical programs including all operations such as bed management, utilization, staffing, professional practice, identifying educational requirements, occupational health and safety including WHMIS
Promotes a patient focused environment through the implementation of evidenced-based practice and continuous quality improvement including developing, implementing and monitoring performance indicators.
Partners with the Clinical Educator Facilitator (CEF) to mentor and coach staff responsible for day-to-day patient care to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to service delivery.
Develops, manages, monitors and reviews the financial performance of the program, initiates strategies to ensure budgetary variances are managed, and develops the annual capital equipment budget in consultation with key stakeholders.
Partner with Human Resources to ensure compliance with all collective agreements, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and ongoing retention and recruitment of staff
Oversee compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements related to practice standards and patient safety and ensures the implementation of improvement strategies as required.
Manages staff risk management issues and is responsible to implement strategies to minimize risk.
Facilitate Accreditation preparation and Model of Care within her/his areas of responsibility.
Represents the hospital on external issues related to their clinical area of specialty and participates on corporate projects as required.
Manages the delivery of Inpatient Surgery, Allied Health & Social Work programs to meet patient care needs, including a focus on the clinical expansion and the operational readiness associated with the Capital Redevelopment project
Working collaboratively with CCAC and system partners in Discharge Planning

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Qualify for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
BScN or undergraduate degree required
Master of Health Administration, Nursing or a related graduate level program, completed or in progress with completion within 5 years - Preference will be given to candidates with graduate degree in nursing or related field
Minimum of 3-5 years recent clinical management experience in a hospital setting preferably in Allied Health, Rehab and Inpatient Surgery programs
Evidence of management education and training and ongoing professional development
Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
Proficient with computers and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Regular attendance required
Demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent decision making which reflects sensitivity to financial, operating and human resource constraints
Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a proven track record of fostering collaborative partnerships
Committed to excellence in exceptional patient care and continual focus on quality improvement and results driven outcomes
Demonstrated human resources management skills in a unionized environment required
Ability to deliver a strong vision of values-based, patient centered service delivery model
