Overview of the Role
Working under the supervision of the Director Technical Services, the Specialist, Technical Services - Expert Cheese will provide leadership and technical support in the areas of process and product development, formula optimization, process implementation, cost reduction initiatives, yield optimization and continuous improvement audits.
The successful candidate will possess a strong combination of initiative, specialized knowledge and intellectual curiosity. This role is ideal for the person who is committed to continually developing their knowledge and skills and advancing their career at Saputo.
Salary range from $88 325 to $115 930
Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.
How you will make contributions that matter:
Act as a technical expert in cheese manufacturing for various internal and external sectors of activity.
Technical support in the areas of cheese manufacturing (evaluate and identify product or production problems). Develop and implement the action plan to remedy them.
Optimize cheese products, processes and recipes.
Evaluate and implement new industrial technologies and cheese manufacturing processes.
Participate in the establishment of plant financial targets and cost reduction initiatives.
Develop new cheese products.
Ensure effective dissemination of results to various audiences (operations, quality, marketing, sales, etc.)
Transfer the knowledge acquired to the cheese makers for the proper implementation and maintenance of cheese formulations and manufacturing processes.
For eligible projects, ensure the completion of the information required for the proper functioning of the SR&ED program (research tax credit).
You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
University degree in food technology, food engineering or equivalent training.
Graduate degree (M.Sc or Ph.D), especially in the dairy sector is an asset
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a dairy processing environment, preferably cheese manufacturing.
Autonomous, versatile, motivated individual with strong intellectual curiosity.
Good popularizer and communicator (verbal and written), able to influence.
Good team player
Analytical and creative problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
Bilingualism (French and English) in speaking and writing is required in Quebec, as the teams and clients are spread across Canada. French is an asset for other provinces
Comfortable traveling across Canada (20% of the time )
