Interior Community Services (ICS) is a non-profit, accredited, multi-service agency providing a wide range of supported programming to people of diverse demographics, including children, youth and families, seniors, and people with various support needs.
Services of ICS include affordable housing, integrated family support, youth support, individual life skills development, and safe, nurturing home environments designed to assist people to live to their potential in the community.
In April 2013, ICS opened an office in the City of Merritt, providing both Family and Community Living services and programs.

ICS is seeking a motivated individual to join the Merritt team as Director of Operations and Community Development.
As the Director of Operations & Community Development, you will have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of hundreds living in Merritt, BC, by playing a key leadership role in a deeply rooted community service organization.

RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
As the Director of Operations & Community Development, your responsibilities will include:
• Participate as a senior member of the Leadership Team in developing long-range strategic plans and leading operational planning and implementation for ICS Merritt Programs.
• Provide leadership and operational management of the Family Support and Community Living Support Program Coordinators and staff in Merritt.
• Establish service excellence and accountability by soliciting feedback and implementing action plans regularly.
• Encourage team building by facilitating open communication and positive working relationships with staff, people-served, and all involved parties
• Lead the hiring process for the Merritt programs and office in collaboration with HR
• Directly supervise Program Coordinators including mentoring, coaching, evaluating, and maintaining high-performing teams
• Address performance and accountability concerns and lead disciplinary and labour relations issues in collaboration with HR
• Ensure program quality and accountability in fulfilling contracts, accreditation, licensing, and agency reporting requirements
• Manage financial resources and assist in the development of annual operational budgets for each program under their direct responsibility
• Ensure compliance with all legislated and licensing requirements and Agency Policies and Procedures including implementing and maintaining all CARF standards relevant to their Programs
• Represent the agency in the community, professional organizations, and with funders.
• Write proposals and reports, and oversee other administrative duties.
• Manage programming facilities as required to meet agency and funder standards.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
• Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in the Social/Human Service field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a non-profit leadership role with demonstrated project and people leadership background.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience with program development and outcomes management
• Experience in community engagement and familiarity with the City of Merritt community

SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE:
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives collaboratively
• Aptitude for translating vision, mission, values, and strategic goals to day-to-day activities of the organization and the culture of the agency
• Foster a trauma-informed and person-centered approach
• Work independently and be reliable and self-motivated
• Collaboration and effective teamwork
• Ability to work under pressure while prioritizing projects and tasks effectively
• Strong communication and interpersonal, both written and verbal
• Relate well with families, co-workers, and other professionals.

• Ability to represent the organization professionally and ethically and establish strong professional partnerships
• Working knowledge of community-based programs and services, funding sources, and community relations.
• Experience and knowledge of financial management, administration and control
• In-depth understanding of program development, outcomes management, and various service delivery models
• Demonstrated experience and success with accreditation processes
• Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft 365 programs with the ability to self-teach other technological tools as necessary including payroll, client management, and any databases/training platforms as necessary.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• BC Class 5 DL or equivalent with Safe Driving Record
• Own vehicle with $5 Million Business Use insurance (reimbursement available)
• Frequent driving within Merritt and regular visits to Kamloops
• Consent to Criminal Record Checks - RCMP and BC Vulnerable Sector Search (Reimbursement of related costs upon hire)
