Product Development Designer
Position Summary:
The Product Development Designer is a creative and innovative thinker. They will be responsible for assisting in the development and design of all component parts & assemblies for the product line. This involves market research, problem solving, the building of prototypes and producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
Position Qualifications:
Education & Experience
10 years of experience in product design, manufacturing and engineering
Familiarity with machining and/or welding and fabrication- asset.
Manufacturing and practical work experience - asset
Experience with FEA Simulation - asset
Completion of a post-secondary program in engineering design, drafting or in a related technical field or equivalent work experience- asset.
Knowledge of drafting practices, tolerances, welding symbols and fabrication procedures - preferred
Skills
Competency in SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software.
Understanding of part design, assemblies, and tolerances.
Attention to detail in the creation of drawings.
Self-starter with excellent time management.
Communication
Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
Able to work independently and as a team.
Interact in a team environment as part of larger projects
Responsibilities & Competencies:
Able to design new components and assemblies and create the required 3D models & drawings with attention to detail.
Willing to develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of our products and quality standards.
Assist the engineering team with problem resolutions of manufacturing and in field challenges.
Problem solve and establish root cause.
Understand manufacturing processes and requirements.
Research market data & engineering criteria and work with company dealers and install teams to determine product requirements.
Design efficient and competitively priced products.
Make revisions to existing models and drawings.
Assist in the preparation of engineering analysis, related documents & calculations.
Schedule and lead meetings to discuss and review projects and designs.
Follows company standards for welding symbols and fabrication procedures.
