Job Description

Are you a Registered Practical Nurse looking to take your surgical skills to the next level? Mount Sinai Hospital's Operating Room (OR) is the place for you! Our recently redeveloped facility provides a unique opportunity to develop specialized technical skills related to surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.

Not only will you have a direct impact on patient outcomes, but you'll also have the chance to broaden your experience beyond the traditional scrub nurse role. By joining our team you will learn to second-circulate and rotate through various surgical services.

Is this you?

You value professional growth and development - that's why joining a team that prioritizes learning is crucial to your success. Mount Sinai, being both a clinical care center and a teaching hospital, understands this well. Mount Sinai Hospital offers an array of educational opportunities, including a yearly education day and bi-annual code simulations. Not to mention, our weekly 1-hour educational sessions and 4-month extended orientation plan for nurses.

But that's not all. If you're looking for experience in a state-of-the-art surgical setting that utilizes innovative technologies such as the GTX OR, DaVinci Robot, and Velys Robot, then Mount Sinai should be at the top of your list. These technologies are utilized in a variety of specialties, including Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, General Surgery, Urology, ENT, and robotic-assisted knee surgery.

About this team:

More than 16,000 patients undergo surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital every year. We are experts in and globally recognized for our specialized Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Orthopedic Surgery programs. Specialties utilizing the Main Operating Room/Cysto are General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Otolaryngology, Lasers, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery and Orthopaedics - both Reconstructive and Sarcoma. The Main Operating Room has 3 state-of-the-art Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) suites. This team has sponsorship opportunities available for nurses interested in obtaining OR certification. A unique staff recognition and appreciation program F.R.O.G. (Forever Recognize Others Greatness) enhances team dynamics, while a Pet Board and Tree of Kindness encourage staff to celebrate each other.

In this role, you will:
Perform the duties of the scrub nurse
Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned
