The Journey Program Manager, Health and Wellness, is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.

As a Journey Program Manager, Health and Wellness, your typical day will impact the following ways:

• Overseeing the day-to-day operations to include financial cost efficiencies and provision of quality care and quality of life services to residents in the Journey program.

• Model and incorporate Person Centre language to show respect and dignity when interacting with others and continually monitor and correct, in a respectful manner, when the use of inappropriate language is used.

• Support teammates to further their dementia education and skills by teaching Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA)

• Include teammates in decision-making and provide opportunities for them to give feedback or express their concerns.

• Encourage teammates to try new approaches and offer suggestions that will enhance resident's quality of life

• Develops an individualized resident engagement calendar that offers structured and personalized activities that will assist in reducing agitation, improving mood and enhance the quality of life for the resident.

• Determining the stage of dementia (Mild, Moderate or Severe), the resident's cognitive and physical functional assessments, service care planning, medication management, behavioral interventions, and therapy for activities of daily living needs.

Education and Experience:

• A degree/diploma in Nursing, Gerontology, Kinesiology, Therapeutic Recreation, Health Promotion, and Health Sciences.

• Minimum 3 years' experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and/or Retirement industry.

• Trained in GPA, PIECES and/or U-First, ability to train others

• Must be able to set priorities and meet time and calendar deadlines as workload may fluctuate as resident needs and occupancy change

• Effective verbal and written English communication skills required

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Must possess excellent supervisory and leadership abilities.
