Overview:

This is a university student position that will challenge and develop an individual in a professional corporate setting. The successful candidate can expect to be assigned responsibilities to support various functions within the Customer Value Center of Lafarge Western Canada's Cement group. In addition to assigned responsibilities, the individual will be provided with development opportunities to learn more about different aspects of Lafarge's business based on the individual's areas of interest.

Key Responsibilities:

Adheres to all Lafarge Safety policies and procedures.
Creation of cement orders received via email and communication with carriers to carry out planning.
Assist with the resolution of disputed invoices
Processing credit card payments and reconciliation
Administration responsibilities with Salesforce
Customer account reconciliation/cleanup effort when necessary
Learning/Development Opportunities (based on candidate's preference):
Backup Order entry for the order desk.
Communication and transparency on activities that should involve CVC, Sales, Credit, the Financial Service Center, or any other department. Foster an environment of teamwork and cooperation with these other groups.
Ensure proper documentation is kept for transactions that will stand up to the scrutiny of auditory requirements.
Input manual bills of Lading as well as any other additional billing required by the business.

Results/Accountabilities:

Learn and adhere to the Lafarge Safety program
Ensure that professionalism is an integral part of all activities
Follow-up and resolve issues as they relate to customer billing
Learn upstream and downstream effects of working with an ERP system and consider these effects when making decisions
Follows the standard operating procedures for department

Relationships with Others' Jobs:

Works closely with logistics, sales, and finance organizations, including Transportation
Managers for Rail/Truck/Barge, Financial Managers and Analysts, Sales Representatives and District Sales Managers.
Communicates and coordinates with Manager and others on changes and issues pertaining to freight.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Active candidate for Bachelor degree in logistics, supply chain, business management or related field

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong data gathering and analytical skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google
Problem solving, decision making, and multi-tasking skills
Time and self management skills - includes ability to realize current priorities associated with competing tasks
Professionalism
Interpersonal savvy
