Description

Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Hydraulics Engineer role will report to the Supervisor, Growth. The successful candidate will provide hydraulic engineering and technical support to support the growth and expansion of Inter Pipeline's Pipeline assets.

Key Activities and Responsibilities
•Support and maintain comprehensive hydraulic models of all pipeline systems, conducting steady-state and transient pipeline hydraulic analyses, incremental volume analysis and other special studies as needed and under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Growth as well as other Pipeline Hydraulics subject matter experts.
•Provide technical support to the Pipeline Commercial, Project Development, and Operations groups.
•Liaise with support systems personnel involved with day-to-day system operations and maintenance; verify input data pertaining to physical configuration, operations and control systems, and to gain practical experience and knowledge of the systems.
•Generate reports and/or summaries for completed hydraulic analyses.
•Prepare and publish short and long term system expansion plans and feasibility studies including investigation and economic analysis of planned alternatives.
•Lead equipment and pipeline optimization initiatives.
•Works closely with Field Operations, Control Centre, Operations Management, Business Development, Oil Movements, and external stakeholders (industry committees, regulators, etc.).
•Liaise with various stakeholders throughout the company to identify and champion solutions.

Education, Skills and Experience

•An engineering degree and registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer are essential for this position.
•5+ years of industry experience, with a focus on hydraulic modeling.
•Ability to perform feasibility studies, coordinate the input of others, analyze information and meet deadlines.
•Experience in the pipeline industry is a strong asset.
•Experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS).
•Knowledgeable in current operating standards, codes, rules, and regulations that relate to process engineering and pipeline facility design.
•Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Working Conditions
The position will be in our corporate head office in the heart of downtown Calgary, close to the business core and natural attractions of Prince's Island Park and the Bow River Pathway System. Our space offers employees a great work environment which promotes physical and mental wellness. Primarily, work will be completed in a dedicated cubicle and shared meeting rooms.

Occasional travel to site locations may be required.
