Engineering - Breakdown Detailer - Railing
Reports directly to the Division Manager (DM) and works closely with the Breakdown Job Captain regarding the assigned and breakdown issue. He/she will work closely with the Breakdown Job Captain on project specific tasks. Breakdown detailer shall ensure to meet all schedules in a timely manner. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology Construction Management or Civil Engineering
Years of Experience
- Minimum 3+ years in drafting, parts, and/or breakdown
Working Conditions
- Site visits require wearing PPE for all site work and in certain other locations
- At times requires driving a company vehicle to visit sites
- Flexible to work overtime as required
- Intermediate level position for incumbents wishing to pursue a career in all areas of the Engineering department
- Detail oriented with the ability to read architectural drawings
- Knowledgeable in the industry and knows about the products and systems
- Knowledgeable in AutoCAD
- Ability to complete shop drawings as required
- Ability to act as a mentorship to junior breakdown detailers
- Ability to work on many projects that are large and complex
- Communication with coworkers daily by telephone, email and in person
- Professional and tact to handle confidential information
- Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Job Specific Duties
- Review approved shop drawings or marked-up shop drawings prior to doing breakdown
- Ensure working on the current set of shop drawings and approved sample list
- Request PM for any other drawings affecting breakdown marked-up if not available yet
- Attend a kick-off meeting with installer to discuss if there are special requirements needed in railing installation
- Review with the PM and ensure all reply to RFI and SI are incorporated in the breakdown
- Mark all revisions on the shop drawing set to be used for as-built purposes
- Always double check the latest slab edge drawing against the approved shop drawings
- Ensure site measurement is laid out in CAD if necessary
- Mark on installation plans/slab edge drawings all questions and missing sizes
- Coordinate with installer and FM as requested
- Do the breakdown according to standard practice
- Prepare sketches where required i.e. frit pattern, slab cover, and any metal panel
- Discuss with PM and FM if there are discrepancies between the shop drawing and site measurements
- Release breakdown to purchasing and plant as per schedule and procedure
- Prepare pulled sheets take off per release (extrusion, parts, etc.) to prepare materials to production
- Advise PM ahead of time if schedule will not be met
- Fill up breakdown package
- Inform purchasing, production &/or service for any revision, site changes or errors made & update original file
- Run an inventory report prior to finishing the project as requested by the plant manager to include hoists and railing on-hold
- Do the material take-off in the software
- Any other tasks assigned by the Division Manager and Breakdown Job Captain
