Overview
The Welder will be expected to join, fabricate and repair metal materials for use in the Precast Concrete Industry, by applying appropriate techniques and using various welding devices. These materials may include connection hardware, formwork, and facility maintenance. The ideal candidate will bring technical know-how, an innovative mindset and be able to fabricate and weld with limited direction. The successful applicant will work in a fast paced manufacturing environment; a safety minded individual with mechanical aptitude is important.
Responsibilities
As a Welder, you will:
Set-up and operate shield metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
Utilize various welding techniques, including MIG, and stick welding, to join metal components according to project specifications.
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to execute precise welds.
Prepare work pieces by cleaning, cutting, and shaping metal using various tools and equipment (drills, saws, ironworker ect.)
Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of components before welding.
Repair machinery and other form components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrate agility, stewardship, and ensure all work is completed in a safe manner.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Valid Redseal Journeyman's Welder certification
CWB FCAW/MCAW all positions an asset
Valid driver's license
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Skill Set:
Experience welding in an industrial/manufacturing environment is an asset
Experience in FCAW, MCAW, SMAW welding
Ability to read and interpret engineered blueprints
Knowledge of CWB standards.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Work Environment:
Primary work will be indoors, but must be open to work outside if workflow requires.
Must be able to work under pressure
Must be comfortable working at heights
Must be comfortable working in confined spaces
Must be physically fit to perform required duties; successful candidates will have to pass a physical assessment.
Must be able to work overtime and weekends when necessary
