Position Summary:
The Housekeeping Program is responsible for the facilitation of cleanliness for the entire hospital. This role is integral to the health and well-being of our patients and staff. This individual will be part of a busy department that provides the highest quality of cleanliness to all areas of the hospital. This role is responsible for cleaning of various support service areas including scouring, scrubbing, mopping, polishing, using germicides, wet dusting and vacuuming. You will wash walls, ceilings, lights, vents, doors, windows and frames and the processing of Hospital waste. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending and repetitive actions. This position is to work all shifts including weekends and holidays. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.
Skills and Qualifications:
Successful completion of secondary school required
Two years current experience within an environmental services position, specifically cleaning required
Current experience within a hospital enviroment preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of infection control standards and procedures is required.
Demonstrated ability working in a team environment required
Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, communication (both verbal and written) and customer service skills
Demonstrates values consistent with Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
Training in the transportation of dangerous goods act, completion of manifests and spill response is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
