We're Looking For:

Reporting to a Field Inspection Manager, this role supports the OPENLANE Inspection team. The Team Lead will support the FIM to lead and coordinate VLC (Vehicle Logistic Center) operations and / or field operations of OPENLANE Inspections in Canada. This position will develop and direct teams of Vehicle Inspection Specialists (VIS) that are competent and motivated to deliver exceptional inspections and exceptional customer service for clients and their retail customers. In this role, the Team Lead will also complete inspections such as Vehicle Inspection Specialist, obviously the requested workload will be evaluated according to the administrative tasks to be completed.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of OPENLANE policies, processes, and procedures and the tools used in the conduct of vehicle inspections.

  • Responsible for coordinating Vehicle Inspection Specialists to complete tasks as directed by management.

  • Responsible for developing teams capable of delivering exceptional inspection services. Oversee the direct efforts to train, motivate, coach, counsel, and mentor Vehicle Inspection Specialists, including conducting performance management activities,

  • Perform on-site coaching with VIS regularly.

  • Ensure that Vehicle Inspection Specialists meet or exceed metrics as assigned by their Regional Manager and FIM.

  • Complete fieldwork as needed

  • Communicate in a professional manner with customer (Adesa management, dealer, or consumer)

  • Resolve any customer inquiries in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner; advise management of all complaints or incidents

  • Ensure internal and external customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention

  • Inspect vehicles for signs of wear, tear, neglect, damage, previous repair, or structural damage

  • Complete inspection of vehicles and ensure adherence to the defined program for the customer

  • Capture data accurately on a mobile device, work comfortably with software and technology.

  • Deliver results in a timely manner

  • Collaborate with Field Inspection Manager and sales team members on customer needs with insights to improve services provided

  • Maintain equipment and tools properly and advise manager of any needed equipment maintenance or breakdown

  • Submit completed condition reports using the appropriate technology made available to you to complete the vehicle inspection

  • Complete road test if required by contract or inspection type

  • Keep current on technology updates, new releases, and product development

  • Understand the functionality and ability to use tools such as paint meter, OBD scanner etc.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Experience / Knowledge of the automotive industry required

  • Experience in a Supervisory role, or team management is preferred

  • Must be qualified, and able, to operate different types of motor vehicles and possess a valid driver's license with the appropriate levels of insurance

  • Confident working in a technology focused environment
