Our Teachers provide educational support to diverse learners, coordinate academic materials, develop personalized learning strategies, collaborate with team to plan/participate/lead physical activities and outings, and support the social/emotional growth of the students.
A Bachelor's Degree is necessary along with a valid Ontario Teaching Certificate. Math and Humanities specialties preferred. The successful candidate should have a minimum of two years' experience teaching in a Secondary School setting and at least 1 year experience working students with emotional and social issues, behavioural challenges and learning challenges and/or disabilities. Special Education/Inclusive Education Diploma is an asset.

Teaching Skills: Working with a range of learning abilities/disabilities, behavioural, social and emotional challenges & needs; demonstrated competence using instructional strategies that engage and motivate students; coaching students to think critically.
Academic Coordination: obtaining and returning individual student work; facilitation of the work provided; ability to be well organized & flexible in meeting changing demands of students; the ability to meet emerging deadlines; ability to be a positive communicator with parents, students, and colleagues.
Behaviour/Classroom Management: Bring positive energy to the classroom; enthusiasm for working with and developing positive relationships with adolescents; effective classroom management; sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development; teaching assertive communication and conflict resolution.
Other duties include: Coordination/collaboration on the activities schedule, participate in all activities with the students, positively contribute to a multi-disciplinary team, demonstrate flexibility, daily staff check-in and debrief; and other duties as determined by Venture Academy.
