Plains is seeking to hire a Labour Relations Lead who will lead the Labour Relations function at Plains Midstream Canada. The successful candidate will partner with senior Operations leaders in Calgary and at our field sites to further enhance the positive working relationships between Plains and it's represented employees. Reporting to the Director Human Resources, this role will also be required to provide Employee Relations support to our non-represented groups with the same commitment to respect, fairness and Plains' policies and standards.

Responsibilities

Provides advice, guidance and coaching to all levels of management on labour relations matters including collective agreement interpretation, investigations, employment terms and conditions, corporate policies, disciplinary process and grievances. Represents Plains in labour relations matters that may include chief spokesperson at negotiations, mediation, grievances, tribunals and arbitrations. Build effective working relationships and trust with union leadership and local union executive through regular communication. Provides advice, guidance and coaching to all levels of management on employee relations matters including total rewards, policy interpretation, investigations, and disciplinary matters. Ensures compliance with all regulations and employment laws by staying abreast of regulatory/industry developments affecting areas of labour and employment. Leads HR continuous improvement initiatives within Operations by engaging stakeholders and developing suitable roll-out, training and communications plans.

Qualifications

8+ years progressive labour relations experience gained in a sizable and complex unionized multi-jurisdictional profit orientated organization. Experience as a spokesperson at the bargaining table preferred. Labour Relations team leadership experience preferred. Bachelor's Degree in a related field (HR, Commerce or Law), with a complementary focus on labour relations, preferred. Previous responsibility for contract development strategy, collective bargaining, arbitration, mediation and contract interpretation and administration required. Thorough understanding of Canadian Federal and Provincial Labour legislation, and a general understanding of US and California Labour legislation, regulatory requirements, employment standards and arbitral jurisprudence.
