Academic Psychiatrist

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Department of Psychiatry in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto are seeking a full-time psychiatrist in the General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division. The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant with a start date of September 1, 2024 or mutually agreed upon date. Duties will include working in variety of general adult psychiatry outpatient settings and clinics with a focus on developing a program of exercise interventions for patients with mood, anxiety and trauma related disorders. The academic role will focus on teaching and supervision of medical students and psychiatry residents, developing quality improvement initiatives and participation in research and other academic activities.

CAMH is Canada's premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorder, offering a wide spectrum of care from treatment for first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research-intensive University in Canada. CAMH, together with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, has a strong tradition in the integration of clinical, teaching and research activities. The successful candidate will provide exemplary team-based psychiatric care for people with mood, anxiety and trauma related disorders and overall general adult psychiatry assessment. The candidate will also be expected to participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs of the University of Toronto Department of Psychiatry. The applicant will have a desire to work in and contribute to an active academic environment, with a commitment and experience in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The candidate will have a background in program development and research related to exercise interventions for patient with mental illness. Additional training in quality improvement is required though this can occur over the course of the first year in the position. Applicants must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful must be eligible for academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Toronto. Academic rank will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. English language proficiency is required. This is a full-time position with estimated remuneration in the range of $250,00 - 350,000, based on a combination of clinical stipends, fees for service, funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds, and on-call stipends. Benefits are not included. This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON, M6J 1H4.
