Your opportunity: The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga delivers registrarial services to support U of T Mississauga's academic goals and U of T priorities in the areas of student information, interpretation of policies, and innovation of registrarial interactions. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Admissions, the Manager, Academic Culture and English Program is responsible for the development, planning and coordination of the Academic Culture and English Program at U of T Mississauga (ACE@UTM). The program meets the English language facility requirement for admission to U of T and significantly contributes to U of T Mississauga's strategy in the admission, recruitment, retention, and academic success of international students. As the key point person, the Manager works closely with other team members in the Office of the Registrar, a number of U of T and U of T Mississauga departments, as well as external service providers to ensure the smooth delivery of the program and to provide support to ACE@UTM students during their transition from prospective student to new student status at U of T Mississauga. The Manager is responsible for reviewing trends and evaluations to support future direction of the program, undertaking on-going analysis and research to support program development and/or new initiatives. Will be required to work flexible hours to accommodate international time differences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing components of programs and initiatives that advance program objectives
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for program activities
  • Liaising with stakeholders to support initiatives
  • Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
  • Analyzing metrics to identify trends
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
  • Advising students on academic and/or financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
  • Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years related experience working in a post-secondary registrarial, recruitment and admissions setting with a culturally and linguistically diverse population
  • Experience managing projects, developing programing, new initiatives and associated budgets in a multicultural post-secondary environment
  • Experience coordinating partnerships with a variety of institutional functional areas (e.g. student leaders, staff, faculty, administration)
  • Experience providing detailed information and advising on university policies and procedures to prospective students, applicants and conditionally admitted students
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills, including proven ability to be proactive, take initiative and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication and public speaking/presentation skills
  • Excellent relationship building and management skills with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Proficient in MS Office with advanced skills in Excel
  • Ability to develop and monitor a budget
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, flexibility and must be dynamic and goal-oriented

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Additional training or education in student development, programming, international education, diversity and inclusion, or cross-cultural communication
  • Experience with revenue-generating programs
  • Fluency in at least one language other than English, preferably Mandarin
  • Knowledge of University of Toronto structures, systems, policies and values
