As a Senior Advisor in Investment Solutions and Portfolio Management, you will provide support for our wealth advisors on the range of managed solutions at National Bank Financial (NBF) and advise them on portfolio management best practices so that they can better support their clients and generate better returns.

Your role:
  • As a portfolio management expert, build close relationships with wealth advisors to integrate discretionary investment solutions.
  • Offer wealth advisors portfolio management advice and support with respect to turnkey products and promote portfolio management best practices and the establishment of investment policies.
  • Oversee communications and documentation for the turnkey offer.
  • Act as a coach and expert in turnkey investment solutions for wealth advisors and discretionary managers and promote portfolio management best practices.
  • Provide personalized support in implementing changes to the different investment solutions (client onboarding in discretionary programs, e.g., UMA).
  • Communicate and promote strategic decisions with respect to the practices of discretionary managers and wealth advisors using managed investment solutions.
  • As a member of the myWEALTH Unified investment committee, oversee decisions on portfolio construction and adjustment for all models offered in the program.
  • Represent NBF on the National Bank Investments (NBI) external manager review committee.
  • Supervise analysts in producing performance reports, investment data and quarterly communications. Participate in quarterly calls.
  • Interact with members of senior management, Compliance, administration, Legal Affairs, IT and others to influence them and get their approval for major projects.
  • Participate in recruiting new advisors for discretionary management or the adoption of investment solutions (e.g., UMA).
  • Support and work closely with the Senior Manager and Advisor for Client Offer Strategy in developing large-scale IT initiatives and tools to support portfolio management proposals.
Your team:

You'll report to NBFWM's Head Portfolio Manager as part of the Investment Solutions team, which is made up of 20 people.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and ten (10) years of relevant experience, or a master's degree in a related field and 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • CFA or CIM designation and completion of the CSC
  • Portfolio Manager registration with CIRO, an asset
  • Knowledge of portfolio management tools (transactional, compliance and risk analysis)
  • Experience managing portfolios and analyzing portfolio and risk management mandates
  • Experience in the securities industry
  • Recognized experience in investment product creation and support
  • Wholesaler experience, an asset
  • Sales experience, an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent communication skills (English and French)
  • Strong influencing and decision-making abilities
