Description: We are seeking people who will provide customers with an exceptional and positive event experience. They will be attentive to customers' needs by demonstrating excellent customer service skills and confident communication skills. Under general supervision performs routine duties of food and beverage service as prescribed by the applicable statutes and policies of the University of Toronto.

Typical Duties: The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required, and the extent of the responsibility involved in this job. They in no way limit the incumbent to tasks indicated.
(a) Prepare and set up service areas and facilities for use by guests.
(b) Deliver to service areas and stock, count and record all inventories of goods and cash.
(c) Serve food and beverage products to guests as required.
(d) Monitor and supervise alcohol consumption as required by the Liquor License Act and University of Toronto alcohol policies.
(e) Complete closing inventory and cash reports in prescribed manner.
(f) Secure inventories, cash and facilities in prescribed manner.
(g) Maintain the service and public areas in a safe, sanitary and hospitable condition.
(h) Follow all prescribed food handling procedures as required by legislation.
(i) Generally assist in operation of department services as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: At least one year as a University of Toronto student. Must hold a valid Smartserve Certification during the time of employment. (Training may be provided to hired applicant.)
Experience: Previous related experience within Hospitality preferred. Cash Handling experience preferred. Applicants are also expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
Other: Valid Ontario G driver's license preferred. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age as required by the Liquor License Act.

Notes: This is a casual position with no guarantee of hours. Schedules will be made according to availability and demand (events booked). May include weekends and evenings. The position will end in April 2025 There are eight (8) vacancies available. There are two positions Req ID:37096 (Hospitality Worker - Tips) and Req ID:37091 (Hospitality Worker - Non-Tips).
