Brannon Steel is seeking an experienced Accountant to join the finance team at its Brampton, Ontario headquarters. Reporting to the Controller, you'll play a key roll in the day-to-day financial activities and success of the organization including payroll administration for 200 hourly employees.

Starting salary: $65,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Remote work: No

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain financial records including reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Perform accounts receivable activities including account reconciliations and payment collection.
  • Process full-cycle hourly payroll including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Calculate and process payroll adjustments, retroactive pay and terminations.
  • Prepare and submit remittances and other statutory filings.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
  • Prepare and submit government reports and other compliance-related documents.
  • Assist with external audits, budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for Senior Management.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical records.
  • Stay up-to-date with accounting regulations and GAAP.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting regulations.
  • Computer-proficient including accounting / payroll software and MS Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central is a plus.
  • Superb attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent business communication and interpersonal skills.
