Founded in 1918, CNIB is one of Canada's oldest charities. For more than 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing exciting, safe, and accessible camp experiences for Canadians with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Custodian to help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for 'kids of all ages' with sight loss, and their families!

Note that this position will reside at CNIB Lake Joe during the operational season from May to August and will share accommodations with other staff members.

Your Impact at CNIB
  • Maintain regular cleaning schedule throughout all buildings as determined by the supervisor.
  • Strip and launder soiled linens and shower curtains from guest rooms when necessary.
  • Conduct and document daily inspections of all buildings and grounds as well as report findings to Facility Operator and/or General Manager.
  • Always maintain the general cleanliness of the grounds.
  • Set up and take down of rooms and meeting spaces as required.
  • Perform minor repairs as assigned.
  • Provide customer service to meet established quality standards.

Requirements

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Valid driver G license and maintain a suitable driving record validated by drivers abstract and/or access to transportation.
  • Current police check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" an asset.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Must be flexible to accommodate changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as scheduled by supervisor.
  • Ladder training an asset.
  • Minimum 2-3 years janitorial/maintenance related experience an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
