Asteris is seeking a Lead Architect & Engineering Manager to guide the evolution of our veterinary medical imaging platform. This hybrid leadership role combines technical ownership of our full-stack and infrastructure with hands-on engineering leadership, including team mentorship and AI strategy integration.
You'll own core architecture decisions, manage the engineering team, and lead the modernization of our platform — including Vue.js-based UI, .NET Core backend, Google Cloud hybrid infrastructure, and open-source medical imaging tools such as Cornerstone.js and DICOM viewers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architectural decisions and technical roadmap across cloud and on-prem infrastructure
- Drive the modernization of our platform using Vue.js, .NET Core, and containerized services
- Integrate AI-powered workflows, including image labeling, smart hanging protocols, and NLP-assisted reporting
- Own and optimize our SQL Server data layer and large-scale imaging performance
- Deploy and scale applications in Google Cloud Platform using Docker and modern CI/CD pipelines
- Oversee and mentor the engineering team: conduct code reviews, guide technical execution, and manage sprint delivery
- Integrate and extend open-source medical imaging libraries (e.g., Cornerstone.js, DICOM parsing tools) into our platform
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, AI, and DevOps teams to align business and technical goals
- Maintain legacy components (WPF/WinForms) while executing transition plans to web-native interfaces
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-stack experience with C# / .NET Core backend systems
- Strong experience with Vue.js or similar SPA frameworks
- Deep expertise in SQL Server: schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning
- Experience leading engineering teams or managing high-performance developers
- Hands-on experience with Docker, containerized infrastructure, and Google Cloud Platform
- Proven track record of deploying AI services (cloud inference or embedded) in production environments
- Familiarity with open-source imaging frameworks such as Cornerstone.js, DICOM standards, or PACS systems
- Understanding of real-time messaging via RabbitMQ, SignalR, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in medical or veterinary imaging (DICOM familiarity strongly preferred)
- Experience with WPF or WinForms modernization projects
- Experience managing hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud deployments)
- SCRUM certification or demonstrated Agile team leadership
