The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our IT team.

Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance the Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for implementation and integration of quality principles and promoting it to the stakeholders within the project. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will have a thorough understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Test Methodologies.

What your day looks like:

  • Lead test planning, execution and ensure overall quality of internal project and third party vendor application releases
  • Create and manage detailed test plans, test cases and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications
  • Design, develop and execute test automation scripts
  • Participate in business requirements review, provide suggestions, identify risks
  • Perform various tests including functional, regression, performance, integration testing of internal/external projects and web/mobile native applications on a wide range of browsers and mobile devices; Analyze performance and load tests and compare with benchmarks with a focus on improving the user experience
  • Investigate production issues focusing on back end testing using database queries and analyzing log files, xml configs, IIS configuration, etc.
  • Planning and preparation of test data and data validation and identify data integrity trends and recommend procedure changes to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure newly implemented system features or enhancements meets user needs as documented in specifications delivered by third party vendors and other internal projects
  • Coordinate release verification activities including release stabilization, user acceptance testing and production testing
  • Ensure continued integrity of existing production systems, includes maintaining and tracking defects and fixes, documentation of information
  • Collaborate with business testers, business analysts, project managers and developers to ensure proper testing of all applications during releases and hot fixes
  • Communicate and provide project status reports on test progress, test results, risks and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management
  • Supports and mentors junior QAs in testing and QA processes including best practices, preparation of test strategies, test data, test environment, scope a project, measure quality of the requirements/gap analysis and estimate testing needs and ensures calculations are fully understood by all stakeholders
  • Conduct walkthrough, presentations to the project stakeholders and the QA team members of new features/functionality as well as changes to existing functionality
  • Monitors and communicates testing quality matrix such as defect, defect counts, test results, test status, traceability matrix to control the requirements coverage and test execution status, Quality of Process, Quality of Requirements within the project team
  • Monitors the quality management dashboards of the project and provide the visibility on the quality of the project

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • University/College degree in Information technology or a related field
  • QA Designation from accredited organization is an asset
  • 5 - 6 years' experience in Testing and Quality Management
  • Strong foundation in quality assurance methodologies, procedures and system testing best practices
  • Strong knowledge of SQL query language and scripting for automation
  • Strong knowledge of defect tracking systems such as Jira, BR-Track, Bugzilla
  • Direct hands-on experience working with performance testing and test case automation tools such as Katalon
  • In depth knowledge of testing concepts, phases, and types of testing
  • In addition, this individual should have working experience in testing mobile native and web applications on a wide range of mobile devices
  • This individual will have strong background in the Waterfall / Agile QA processes from start of testing lifecycle to integration to production deployment to smoke testing
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $88,000 - $98,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
