Leader: Director, EFS Business Architecture

Reporting to the Director, we are looking for an experienced Senior Business Architect to complement our Everyday Financial Services (EFS) Business Architecture team. This team member will be responsible for helping to strategically build and manage our business architecture team at an executive level. They will partner with our internal and external SMEs to work collaboratively across the enterprise to ensure strategic alignment and serve as the bridge between multiple stakeholders to represent EFS priorities while identifying financial benefits. This role will be critical to identify and prioritize business capabilities required to enable our business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior leader and champion of the Business Architecture Practice and center of excellence for ATB as a consumer of business strategy, journeys and client experience
  • Develop a Roadmap of Business Capabilities to enable the EFS strategy over the next 3-5 years
  • Support the in-take process in EFS for all new initiatives to ensure they align to business architecture guidelines, the business plan and overarching strategy - working closely with the EFS Strategy Council
  • Develop a collaborative and transparent relationship between the Business and CX&T (Client Experience & Technology) ensuring that there is alignment, understanding and acceptance of EFS business architecture
  • Work collaboratively with Technology Architects to guide solutions to support business needs
  • Continue to identify, create and support Value Streams that drive EFS business metrics
  • Develop high level business case benefits to support value streams and prioritization - supported by enterprise strategy and values
  • Provide high level requirements to business analysts when introducing roadmap capabilities into projects - serve as a guide for analysts to write detailed business requirements
  • Help evolve the EFS in-take process for continuous improvement to make it easier for project initiators, to not lose sight of valuable ideas, and to ensure strong stakeholder engagement
  • Make connections across business units, partners, and strategically aligned external vendors
  • Be a futurist and understand the business implications of current and fast approaching business, technology, and regulatory trends
  • Find ways to drive purposeful innovation to support EFS

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge and deep understanding of Business Architecture principles and how to apply them
  • Expertise in developing and crafting a path to execute on a business strategy

  • Strong business acumen and ability to quickly gain an understanding of the business landscape in the organization

Process Design and Automation:

  • Business process management - able to assess an end-to-end business process and work with SMEs to identify opportunities for improvement and automation

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:

  • Relationship management
  • Ability to communicate vision to senior leadership
  • Prioritization and managing expectations

Project and Program Management:

  • Strategic planning
  • Project framing and business case
  • Work plan development, tracking and milestones

Data and Analytics:

  • Data peporting, visualization and dashboarding
  • Descriptive and diagnostic analytics

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of proven experience in applying the practices in a variety of strategic initiatives
  • Certification in at least one industry accepted business architecture standard will be an asset, though not mandatory
  • A deep understanding of Business Architecture methodologies and concepts
