WHO WE ARE

We also actively promote work/life balance and mental health supports. We foster communication across the agency, from our Town Halls to our quarterly Springboard orientations. We are a learning organization and our people have the opportunity to provide feedback into all areas of the organization.

We have an active Employee Engagement Committee that focuses on connecting staff through communication, a rewards and recognition program, career development initiatives and of course, social and team building opportunities. Terry Fox House is a 24/7, live-in program, which supports male-identifying or non-binary youth who have been charged with an offense and referred for either open custody or detention. We provide counselling, education support, employment services, life-skills programming, and transitional planning which best supports individuals when they leave the program. Terry Fox House seeks to meet the needs of the young people we serve through increasing their self-efficacy to reduce the severity and frequency of recidivism. By providing effective alternatives to closed custody for young people, we are working to decrease the cost to society of these young people continuing involvement within the system by reintegrating them back into communities, as well as work to decrease the number of young people more deeply embedded within these systems, such as closed custody.

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Residential Counsellor will be responsible for direct service delivery, supporting the Senior Counsellor with case coordination, and maintaining a structured, trauma-informed and safe setting for 24/7 coverage for the youth in our care, as aligned with ministry operational guidelines.
