As ATB's next Financing Specialist, you are a key member of the ATB Wealth Private Banking Credit team and are accountable to ensure the overall health of ATB Wealth Private Banking is maintained through ongoing coaching, development and mentorship of advisory teams. You will also work with the team of service and advisory professionals, as well as multiple business partners, to meet the complex credit needs of ATB's high net worth clients by providing superior client service, innovative credit solutions and individualized financial advice.

The Financing Specialist has strong knowledge and proven success at structuring complex, personal, business and hybrid credit applications while retaining exceptional operational integrity. This is done through an in-depth understanding of the most complex needs of high net worth clients and substantial expertise in retail and commercial credit as it applies to the private client market.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide day to day guidance, advice and coaching to Private Banking Advisors, etc.
  • Observe, coach and mentor advisory teams to drive increased proficiency and self sufficiency in the structuring of standard retail and/or business credit applications
  • Track and analyze statistical information from coaching sessions to use in monitoring and measuring operational compliance issues
  • Partner with leadership team to develop and monitor action plans relative to loan reviews for Private Banking Advisors
  • Provide coaching/facilitate group workshops of Retail and/or Business Credit issues when required
  • Coach, lead and/or participate in Retail and/or Business Credit meetings across ATB Wealth Private Banking
  • Actively seek new ways of looking at and assessing deals, advocating for an obsessed client experience for all credit opportunities
  • Participate in client meetings alongside Private Banking Advisors and Senior Advisors
  • Recommend customized solutions and comprehensive plans to meet the needs of the high net worth, affluent client for both routine and complex credit transactions
  • Manage credit risk and administration on client files and collaborate with the Director of Private Banking Wealth, ATB Wealth and/or Risk Management and the client to provide winning solutions
  • Negotiate with confidence, impact and influence
  • Display a high degree of professionalism and work cohesively in a team environment and is a strong contributor in meeting unit/team sales objectives
  • Refer any applications outside of prescribed lending limit to Director of Private Banking Wealth, ATB Wealth or Retail Credit as appropriate, with recommendations on structuring

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years experience within a Financial Institution and a strong understanding of Retail and Commercial Credit as it applies to private banking and the private client market
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a natural inclination to teach/coach others
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound adjudicating decisions after thorough analysis and careful consideration of all alternatives
  • Ability to analyze high net worth clients to determine the financial standing
  • Strong ability to analyze financial statements, a good knowledge of industry risks, and a practical ability to determine our overall risk tolerance
  • Excellent knowledge of Credit Risk and Credit Risk trends
  • Highly proficient in credit structuring
  • An appropriate combination of creative thinking and procedural approaches in dealing with problems and can communicate these options effectively
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with ATB's policies, business rules and procedures for retail and commercial lending
  • Sound working knowledge of each area of expertise (EFS, Business Banking, and ATBIS)
  • Expertise in financial analysis, and structuring of complex credit solutions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate thoughts and ideas both verbally and in writing
  • Proven collaboration skills, and the ability to coach team members on effective credit practices
