Job Summary:
The Educator / IPAC/ InterRAI Coordinator reports to the Director of Care and as a member of the resident care team, ensures compliance with infection prevention and control, interRAI legislative, and LTC standard reqirements. Half of this role is as an Educator and requires collaboration with Clinical leadership team at The Birches and Ocean View. Effective leadership in a multidisciplinary team is a requirement of this position which includes teamwork within The Birches, collaboration with Ocean View quality team, IPAC RN and InterRAI Coordinator and networking/ learning in the Nova Scotia LTC sector.
IPAC Coordinator (0.25 FTE) - Provides the coordination and delivery of infection control services programs throughout The Birches. The incumbent participates collaboratively with all departments within The Birches to provide leadership in infection control and ensures compliance with al regulatory reporting. The IPAC Coordinator is required to be proficient with Health Connex Audit and IPAC software and functions as the superuser.
InterRAI Coordinator (0.25FTE) - Responsible for overall implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the Inter-RAI reporting requirements through DSLTC LTC Program standards, and optimization of our electronic health records. This role is accountable to coordinate services and have an onsite presence at The Birches Nursing Home. The InterRAI Coordinator is required to be proficient with Momentum EHR and functions as the superuser.
Resident Care Educator (0.5 FTE)- In collaboration with the Quality Team between The Birches and Ocean View, identifies, develops, provides and measures resident care education initiatives. Education topics will vary including but not limited to IPAC, InterRAI, RN, LPN, CCA clinical skills, documentation, care planning, and any other topic deemed necessary by the Director of Care and/or Quality Team. The resident care educator is required to be proficient with Surge Learning and functions as the superuser.
Qualifications:
· RN or LPN License in Good Standing with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
· Experience in assessment and care planning in long term care
· Thorough knowledge of RN/LPN clinical competencies with an interest in continuous quality improvement in long term care
· IPAC certification. If not certified; willingness to get certified.
· Adult Education Certification/ Diploma an asset or willingness to obtain
· Experience completing InterRAI assessments
· Strong understanding of Nova Scotia LTC Standards
· Strong Understanding of CIHI (Canadian Institute of Health Information)
· Strong resident-centered and quality focus
· Demonstrated leadership abilities, planning, organization and time management skills
· Experience providing training/education is an asset
· Experience with project planning and management is an asset
· Computer proficiency essential. Software includes MS Office Suite especially Excel, Momentum EHR, HealthConnex, Catalyst, Surge Learning.

Salary: This is a non-union clinical position. TBNH offers a competitive compensation package including a comprehensive benefits package.
Hours of Work: Generally 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday. Evening and weekend hours may be necessary to ensure scope of work reaches all shifts.
