We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as the Paqtnkek Education Director. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing educational programs with a focus on Mi'kmaq Indigenous education.
Requirements
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Masters of Education or equivalent experience in an Indigenous school setting.
• Strong background and expertise in Mi'kmaq Indigenous-focused education.
• Familiarity with Mi'kmaw Kina'matnewey (MK School Board) is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and strategic direction for Paqtnkek Preschool, Paqtnkek Education Centre, and Adult Education Programming.
• Develop and implement educational policies that align with Mi'kmaq cultural values and traditions.
• Collaborate with educators and staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Ensure compliance with Mi'kmaw Kina'matnewey standards and guidelines.
• Foster community engagement and partnerships to enhance educational opportunities.
• Oversee budgetary aspects related to educational programs and resources.
• Provide guidance and support for professional development within the education team.
