SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

The successful candidate selected for the Public Health Program Coordinator position may be called upon to work on one or more Public Health programs ("Healthy Families, Healthy Babies," immunization, communicable diseases, health promotion). The successful candidate acts as a clinical leader, role model and change agent and helps staff maintain their knowledge and skills. The successful candidate plays a consultant and liaison officer role with staff and internal and external partners. The successful candidate facilitates comprehension of public health principles and concepts and ensures that practice is evidence-based and follows epidemiology principles. The successful candidate also collaborates in the development and harmonization of practices in the sector.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registered with the College of Nursing of New Brunswick (CNNB);
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
  • At least three years' experience in Public Health demonstrating the following:
  • An ability to apply epidemiology principles to promote health and prevent disease and injury;
  • An ability to apply a population health approach and the determinants of health in health promotion strategies;
  • An ability to tailor health promotion and primary prevention strategies to individuals, groups, communities, and the general population;
  • An ability to create partnerships in the community and collaborate with partners;
  • An ability to facilitate groups;
  • Personal and clinical leadership: Agent promoting motivation and engagement with colleagues to advance practices and programs;
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certificate and maintenance of certificate;
  • Commitment to take designated education and training, within set timelines;
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills and efficient management of time and work;
  • Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills;
  • Sound judgment, initiative, integrity, analytical thinking, creativity, flexibility and ability to adapt to change;
  • Ability to travel within Vitalité Health Network and within the province and to work in other Public Health offices as needed;
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
