JOB SUMMARY :

We invite qualified individuals to apply for the position of Zoo Guest Services Attendant.

This position is a seasonal casual position with daytime full time (35 to 40 hours per week) from April to November. Hours in March vary from 8 to 24 hours per week. Hour in December (up to the 1 st week of January) are evening hours (about 20 hours per week). Applicants must be available on weekends and some evening as required to support Zoo operations, special events, and seasonal programming.

Responsibilities consist of providing admission and access to the Magnetic Hill Zoo by ensuring visitors satisfaction with the Magnetic Hill Park Experience. Applicants are also required to work as an attendant in the Wild Things Boutique Gift Shop as it is part of the Admission department.

Applicant will assist in providing assistance and customer service about the Magnetic Hill Illusion and other businesses situated in the Magnetic Hill Zoo and park.

This position reports to the Guest, Retail & Administrative Services Coordinator.

EDUCATION :

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in customer service is a requirement.
  • Must have experience with cash handling including managing cash floats, processing cash, credit or debit payments, groups transactions & invoicing, membership and gift certificate purchases and completing end of the day report and deposits.
  • Must have experience in retail including receiving, pricing and selling of various products, stock rotation and completing inventory task annually.
  • Experience in training other team members is an asset.

LANGUAGE :

  • Must be functional in both official languages (English and French). As per provincial language proficiency standards, functional is determined to be at the Intermediate+ (2+) level or higher.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Basic computer skills with Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be physically able to work standing up for long periods and lift ? 30lbs.
  • Attention to details.
  • Must be able to work well within a team.

  • Must possess strong communications skills.
  • Must enjoy working outdoors and in various weather conditions.

CONDITIONS OF WORK:

  • The working hours may vary and include weekdays, evenings, weekends, as well as holidays.
