About the Role:
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the health care team under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, providing a high standard of care to clients at the Labrador West Health Centre and in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice. The employee is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for clients, families, co workers, and themselves, and reports to the Manager of Patient Services.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or equivalency;
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
- Successful completion of Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVIC) or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by the employer);
- Successful completion of Mosby’s Suite Suicide Assessment and Precautions or willingness to complete (withintimeframe designated by the employer);
- The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct.
Duties (included but not limited to):
- Obtains reports on client’s behaviour and plan of care, specifically relating to safety and security issues;
- Observes and monitors the client’s behaviour related to safety and security, and reports any changes or concerns;
- Maintains visual observation of the client at all times, ensuring the client is never left unattended;
- Responds to client’s needs and requests in consultation with the assigned nurse;
- Documents according to organizational policies and unit guidelines;
- Maintains strict confidentiality on all matters related to the client;
- Other related duties as required.
