We are excited to partner with Premiere Suites in the recruitment of a Corporate Controller to join their team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Technology, the Corporate Controller will play a key leadership role in overseeing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, planning, forecasting, and performance analysis. This position will provide meaningful financial and operational insights to support decision-making while strengthening financial discipline, controls, processes, and reporting across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

Financial Reporting & Planning

  • Lead accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, and detailed variance analysis
  • Own the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes, including financial models, assumptions, and scenario analysis
  • Partner with department leaders to align financial plans with business priorities and recommend actions based on performance against plan

Financial Analysis & Business Insights

  • Analyze profitability across suites, customers, regions, and strategic initiatives
  • Develop and maintain operational dashboards and KPIs, including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and cost trends
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and clearly communicate the story behind the numbers to leadership
  • Incorporate relevant external data to support benchmarking, competitive analysis, and informed decision-making
  • Support strategic initiatives, investment analysis, and growth planning across the organization

Cash Flow & Financial Controls

  • Manage daily liquidity, working capital, and short- and long-term cash flow forecasting
  • Support banking relationships and organizational financing requirements
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure financial processes and procedures are appropriately documented
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors

Data Systems & Process Improvement

  • Integrate financial and operational data from QuickBooks, CRM, and other business systems to strengthen reporting and analysis
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency across financial and operational data sources
  • Leverage advanced Excel, Power BI, and other technology to automate and enhance reporting
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual work, standardize reporting, and improve scalability
  • Support data centralization and systems initiatives that enhance financial visibility across the business

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as a trusted financial partner to Operations, Sales, Marketing, and other functional leaders
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, banks, auditors, and external partners
  • Promote accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making throughout the organization

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • CPA designation is required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting, controllership, and financial planning and analysis experience
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and performance analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or similar tools is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online and experience working with CRM and operational data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful business insights
  • Excellent communication and business partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with senior leadership
  • Demonstrated experience driving process improvement, automation, and operational efficiencies
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively in a growing environment
