GreenNode is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical tax professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys navigating the complexities of multi-jurisdictional indirect tax compliance.
Reporting to senior leadership within Finance, the Tax Accountant will play a key role in managing indirect tax compliance across Canada and the United States. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of sales tax processes, work closely with external authorities, and contribute to process improvements that strengthen governance and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of GST/HST, PST, and U.S. state and local sales tax requirements while helping ensure ongoing compliance in an evolving regulatory landscape.
Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and file recurring indirect tax returns, including GST/HST, PST, and U.S. state and local sales tax filings.
• Coordinate and verify timely tax remittances to provincial, federal, and U.S. tax authorities.
• Monitor legislative changes and maintain accurate sales tax rates and taxability rules across reporting jurisdictions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for tax notices, information requests, and correspondence with Canadian and U.S. tax authorities.
• Support internal and external tax audits through the preparation of reconciliations, supporting documentation, and responses to inquiries.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance internal controls, and maximize available tax recoveries, including input tax credits and rebates.
• Coordinate the scheduling and documentation of corporate tax installment approvals in both Canada and the United States.

As the ideal candidate, you possess:

• Ideally 3+ years of experience in indirect tax or sales tax accounting with exposure to both Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions.
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Experience working with sales tax software such as AvaTax, Vertex, TaxJar, or similar platforms.
• Strong proficiency with ERP systems, databases, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
• Knowledge of nexus rules, filing requirements, compliance obligations, and changing tax legislation across multiple jurisdictions.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail.
