Remote (Nova Scotia-based)
Part-time/Casual, or Contractual Position averaging 25 hours/month (more between October and March and less in the off-season)
Compensation $26.50 / hour
About the Role
Cross Country Nova Scotia is hiring a Communications Officer to lead digital communications, content, and promotion across the province.
This role is responsible for managing the CCNS website, social media, and communications systems to increase awareness; support participation; and promote events, programs, and clubs across Nova Scotia.
This is a fully remote role with variable hours. CCNS is looking for someone who is self-motivated, able to adjust to off-season and in-season demands, and excited to create content for CCNS and its member clubs.
Deliverables
- Manage and update the CCNS website (WordPress)
- Maintain and promote the provincial event calendar
- Create and publish content (print, website, social media, email)
- Promote events, programs, clubs, and skiers
- Manage CCNS social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and X) and engage with the community
- Coordinate communications with clubs, partners, and stakeholders
- Track performance and provide monthly updates
- Attend board meetings
- Communications planning (annual, strategic, seasonal campaigns)
- Annual website audit
- Support member clubs in developing landing pages or websites for promotion
What We're Looking For
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Experience managing Wordpress.com websites and digital content
- Experience working with Google Workspace
- Proven experience with social media for organizations
- Organized, reliable, and able to work independently
- Ability to take direction and work with a volunteer Board and multiple stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Post-secondary education in the field of communications or public relations is an asset
- Experience with Canva
- Experience with analytics tools
- Background in communications, marketing, or sport/recreation
- Knowledge of and participation in cross-country skiing and knowledge of administrative systems for cross-country skiing in Nova Scotia and Canada
