Bookkeeper

Wm. R. Murphy Fisheries Ltd and Roderick Murphy & Sons Ltd are a well-established vertically integrated group of family-owned companies involved in the buying, selling, and processing of various species of seafood.

We are currently seeking an experienced, full-time, detail-oriented Bookkeeper with full-cycle accounting experience.

Reports to: Senior Bookkeeper and Controller.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Transactional data entry for multiple business entities and locations; with frequent intercompany transactions.
  • Maintenance of current and accurate information for all modules in Sage 50.
  • Scanning of paper-based forms for digital storage.
  • Preparation of fishing settlements and payroll runs.
  • Account analysis and reconciliation, including all intercompany accounts, clearing and bank accounts.
  • Administrative assistance to fishermen, supervisors, and senior management.
  • General upkeep of the office such as filing and maintaining sufficient levels of office supplies.
  • Other duties as needed.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of post-secondary education in office administration or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3+ years of experience.
  • Current computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work well on a team, but also independently in a fast-paced demanding environment where the ability to multi-task is key.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to both accuracy and confidentiality.
