The Senior Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing (OHSW) Advisor partners with leaders and teams across the Canadian Red Cross to support safe, healthy, and effective workplaces. By providing specialized advice, practical tools, and solutions, the role helps strengthen workplace safety, support employee and volunteer wellbeing, and advance continuous improvement in OHSW programs and practices.

In this role, you will :

• Guide the delivery and consistent implementation of OHSW programs, protocols, tools, and guidance across programs, services, and operations while providing practical advice and support to leaders and teams to operationalize OHSW requirements in alignment with legislation, CRC policies, standards, and best practice.
• Provide and support incident reporting, review, investigations, follow-up, corrective actions, and liaison with internal partners and Workers Compensation where required.
• Maintain OHSW documentation, data, reports, risks assessments and metrics to support decision-making, planning, and continuous improvement.
• Develop, update and implement practical OHSW guidance, tools, and process documentation
• Monitor and report on provincial/territorial Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees and provide guidance on compliance and carrying out their responsibilities.
• Conduct or support risk mapping, hazard assessments, workplace inspections, hazard reviews, and site-specific safety considerations.
• Support OHSW needs during emergency response operations, including guidance on OHS requirements, response plans, site preparation, and reporting.
• Contribute to OHSW program, policy, guideline, and service improvements by identifying gaps, trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and other partners to advance safe and healthy workplaces.

What we are looking for:

• 6 to 9 years of relevant experience and a three-year college diploma or university degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of OHS legislation, standards, best practices, and workplace factors that influence worker safety and wellbeing.
• Experience supporting safety committees, JOHSCs, subcommittees, and incident review processes.
• Experience with Workers Compensation processes, account administration, and OHSW reporting.
• Experience advising and coaching managers and teams on safe and healthy workplace practices.
• Experience developing or implementing OHSW tools, policies, programs, job aids, guidance materials, or process improvements.
• Ability to interpret OHSW data, identify trends, assess risks, and develop practical recommendations.
• Ability to identify complex problems, analyze interrelated factors, assess and mitigate risks, and develop solutions using specialized skills.
• Communication and influence skills to gather perspectives, understand needs, and present information to reach consensus, often in somewhat sensitive situations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Fluency in English required, French is an asset.
• Active CHSC or CRSP is an asset.

• Availability to travel as needed for meetings, response, and assessment.
