Heavy Equipment 2 Operator

The Municipality of Tantramar's Engineering and Public Works Department is currently accepting applications for a full time, permanent position under
CUPE local 1188 for a: Heavy Equipment II

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe, skilled, and efficient operation of municipal heavy equipment to support the construction, maintenance, and repair of public infrastructure. This role performs daily equipment inspections, executes assigned work to municipal standards, and ensures all tasks are completed with a high level of safety, professionalism, and accountability. The operator works collaboratively with public works staff, responds to seasonal and emergency operations, maintains accurate work records, and represents the municipality through consistent, reliable service delivery that supports community safety and infrastructure quality.

Education and Experience:

• Must possess a valid New Brunswick class 1E driver's license.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in operating heavy equipment, preferably in a Municipal setting.
• Experience in operating excavation equipment in and around water and sewer mains.
• Experienced in operating Municipal ice and snow control equipment.
• Certificates and/or training in Water and Wastewater considered an asset.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively.
• Must be capable of working with minimal supervision
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Must have good communication and customer service skills to work with public on a regular basis.
• Ability to read, write, and adequate comprehension/retention skills.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
