The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Process Operations Trainer to join our People & Community Department in Long Harbour, NL.

This permanent position will be on a 4x10s schedule (Monday to Thursday OR Tuesday to Friday) working at the Long Harbour Operations site in Long Harbour, NL.

The Process Operations Trainer must ensure that Process Operations employees receive the knowledge and practical training required to become safe and productive processing plant technicians and/or other hydrometallurgical refining-related roles. Additionally, the Process Operations Trainer is responsible for training Process Maintenance employees in the safe operation of any Process Operations mobile or fixed equipment they are required to operate.

The Process Operations Trainer must ensure all training complies with legislative requirements (i.e., OH&S Regulations, WHMIS Act, Radiation Act, etc.) and conforms to company policies (i.e., Safe Production, HSER, etc.). To build and maintain a safe, cost-effective, and productive operation, the Process Operations Trainer must establish and maintain communication with all operational stakeholders (workers, supervisors, department heads, etc.) to ensure identified training needs are addressed in a timely manner and that risks associated with the business are reduced to "as low as reasonably achievable".

Additionally, in this position, you will:

• Identify training needs for Process Operations employees and, where applicable, other employees at the Long Harbour Operation (LHO).
• Prepare prior learning assessments and lesson plans for employees.
• Contribute to the research and development of training materials, ensuring content is relevant and supports both the course objectives and overall training program.
  Schedule and deliver safe and effective training in a timely manner.
• Train, mentor, and coach employees in the safe, effective, and productive operation of support mobile equipment and hydrometallurgical refining processes; required safety systems and programs; hazard identification; risk assessment; and reducing risk to "as low as reasonably achievable."
• Evaluate employee performance and communicate findings to both the Process Operations Department and the employee.
• Ensure all training complies with legislative requirements and company policies.
  In collaboration with frontline leadership, develop and monitor individual employee training plans to ensure conformance.
• Maintain employee training records, both electronic and hard copy.
• Participate in committee and team meetings related to the development and enhancement of employee skills.

About You

Education:

• A minimum of Grade 12 education is required.
• Post-secondary education in adult education or a relevant field is preferred.
• Adult Education training, WorkplaceNL Certified Trainer, Train the Trainer program(s), or Heavy Equipment Operation Certification all considered an asset.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years' experience is required.
• Previous experience with Process Operation preferred.
• Considered an asset:
  • Training in the classroom and/or hands on training.
  • Experience mentoring others.
  • Instructional design experience.
  • Zero-Energy/LOTO/P2W experience.

Skills:

• Strong obsession with safety and risk management
• Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
• Sense of ownership and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to solve problems and think proactively and engage with others.
• Strong computer skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
