About Us
NL Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for delivering health and community services to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador across five geographical areas. Our Digital Health team supports the province's Epic Health Information System, working to ensure clinicians and staff across the province have reliable, secure access to the tools they need to deliver care.
About the Role
We are currently looking to hire permanent full-time Epic IRIS Analyst position(s) to work in Digital Health. Reporting to [Reporting Manager TBD], you will be responsible for the following:
•Install, configure, and administer IRIS/Chronicles operational database (ODB) environments serving production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs.
•Apply IRIS and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments according to the change control process.
•Configure and maintain environment copies (refreshes), including data anonymization for non-production copies.
•Ensure data integrity, backup, and disaster recovery procedures for the IRIS database.
•Monitor system and database performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform database optimization, normalization, and de-normalization.
•Establish and enforce database installation and configuration standards across the Epic environment.
•Plan and coordinate the transition of new systems/modules into the production environment.
•Manage work orders, support requests, and documentation for completed operational and project-related database work.
About You
Your education and experience include:
•Graduation from a recognized university with a Computer Science degree, or a bachelor's degree supplemented by a recognized graduate diploma in Information Technology (minimum 1 year), or a 3-year Information Technology diploma from a recognized technical college is required.
•Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven in database administration, including production support in a 24/7 environment, is required.
•Willingness to acquire Epic certification; prerequisites, participate in Epic training/education sessions, complete self-assessments and successfully challenge the certification exam is required.
•You have the following skills and abilities:
•Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills applied to complex, high-availability database systems.
•Rigorous attention to detail, given the direct impact of database issues on clinical system availability.
•Sound judgment during high-pressure, after-hours emergency response situations.
•Strong written communication skills for documenting procedures and work orders.
It would be an asset if you have:
•Epic Operational Database Administrator (ODBA) certification.
•Unix/Linux administration experience for cross-training purposes.
•Demonstrated equivalencies may be considered.
*A valid passport and willingness to travel internationally is a requirement.
