ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Central Zone invites expressions of interest for the position of Clinical Chief, Radiology. This is a zone-wide leadership role accountable for the leadership and management of Radiology services across the Central Zone.
The Clinical Chief will provide professional quality medical leadership and knowledge to the Radiology program, playing a key role in establishing and maintaining clinical services, and leading the integration of physicians and other practitioners within the zone to better coordinate imaging services and ensure patients receive high quality, timely care.
Operating in a complex and dynamic health care environment, the successful candidate is an innovative, collaborative, and transformational leader who will bring an unparalleled passion for health care. This position is suitable for a physician seeking to combine a leadership role with an existing clinical practice in Radiology.
The Clinical Chief is accountable to the Senior Medical Director of the Zone and VP Medical Services, Chief of Staff within NL Health Services.
The term is three (3) years with annual review, which may be extended for an additional three years pursuant to NLHS Bylaws Respecting Medical Staff. We are looking for individuals who have strong leadership and communication capabilities, can motivate team members, move projects forward, and can translate innovative ideas into reality.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Radiology (or equivalent)
- Current appointment to the medical staff of NL Health Services — Central Zone
- Demonstrates commitment to patient-focused care and evidence-based practice
- Experience and/or academic preparation in health care management or leadership
- Training and/or education in leadership and management considered a strong asset
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide effective clinical leadership throughout the Radiology program across the Central Zone
- Champion and advocate for the zone's Radiology services internally and externally
- Provide leadership for ongoing professional development, education, research, and innovation
- Participate in the ongoing planning and development of service delivery, facilitating and supporting change management processes
- Ensure full participation, buy-in, and morale are maintained throughout the Radiology program
- Ensure the highest quality of imaging service is delivered consistently across all professional staff
- Support physician recruitment, retention, mentorship, and succession planning within the program
- Promote quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-informed clinical practice
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
