The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst, Sustainability to join our Sustainability team in Toronto.

This is a Fixed-term position based in Toronto, ON

As the Senior Analyst, Sustainability, you will lead and support ESG initiatives focused on social risk, human rights, and stakeholder engagement. This role ensures compliance with GISTM social standards, drives ESG data reporting and analysis, and supports sustainability reporting and presentations. The position also leads due diligence action plans, develops tools for ESG transparency, and aligns sustainability efforts across corporate and operational teams.

Additionally, in this position you will:

Customer Engagement & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate and respond to customer inquiries, ESG questionnaires, surveys, and information requests.
  • Lead the development and ongoing enhancement of an ESG information portal to support customer engagement and transparency.
  • Maintain stakeholder registries, grievance records, critical issues logs, and communication records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and effective stakeholder engagement processes.

Reporting & ESG Performance

  • Lead the preparation and submission of Vale Base Metals' annual Modern Slavery Report in compliance with applicable Canadian legislation.
  • Support sustainability reporting, ESG performance data collection, validation, analysis, and disclosure activities.
  • Assist with sustainability certifications and reporting initiatives, including Copper Mark, Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI), and Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM).
  • Support sustainability indices submissions, CEO performance reporting, board presentations, and internal and external ESG communications.
  • Prepare materials, reports, presentations, and data summaries that communicate ESG performance and sustainability initiatives.

GISTM Compliance

  • Support continued adherence to GISTM social standards across both site and corporate functions.
  • Review annual disclosures and submissions to ensure social performance requirements are met and supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Identify, assess, and support the resolution of ESG-related gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Project Management

  • Lead and coordinate ESG-related projects and sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage consultants and support contract administration activities.
  • Partner with operations, corporate functions, and global teams to ensure successful delivery of sustainability programs and project.

About You

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Business, Public Policy, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 6-8 years of progressive ESG, sustainability, stakeholder engagement, corporate responsibility, or related experience.

Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead ESG initiatives and sustainability programs.
  • Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, GISTM standards, and Modern Slavery legislation.
  • Experience coordinating ESG questionnaires, customer information requests, sustainability surveys, and disclosure processes.
  • Strong analytical capabilities involving ESG data collection, validation, reporting, and performance measurement.
  • Experience maintaining stakeholder databases, grievance management systems, and communication records.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and overseeing consultants.
  • Skilled in developing executive-level reports, sustainability disclosures, board presentations, and assurance responses.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.
